quick question for all you passionate gardeners

I figured if I used the word "passionate", even Bill might read this... 
How do you keep the squirrels from eating your tomatoes? My neighbor grows all these tomatoes in his front yard (yes, Cheryl, he is Italian 
). The squirrels just love them!!! I see them scampering along the fence with tomatoes hanging out of their mouths. I have even seen the evidence of their plundering on the back of my car (dried tomato seeds - the little squirrels were probably throwing away the seeds to get rid of those bad lectins 
) which I park under one of their favorite trees.
My neighbor was asking me if I knew of any way to "discourage" the little buggers.
Any ideas?
