In Response To: Did you read the Sep 24th article? (Verna)
the problem of GM products being offered as organic, and sold to us under false pretenses. I already have heard from insiders about unscrupulous growers and how they bypass inspections/rules to sell their un-organically grown produce under this label. GM produce allows much more of this to slip by. Add to this the cross-pollination that can occur once GM is in the field, altering safe plants before we realize what’s happening.
Those who are uneducated about GM, or don’t have access to reliable information make up a very large percentage of the population, even in this country. Perhaps the majority? The idea of growing my own takes on greater appeal every day. Then the question becomes, how do I ascertain whether or where I can get totally GM-free seeds and plants.
Maybe I’m just having a very negative-thoughts day....
