Well that's pretty close to Atkins. You know the 'induction phase' is what most people think Atkins is all about, but its not! For Atkins you dump sugars, (most fruits are included in 'sugars', another thing most people don't realize) and dump starches basically, eat lots of veggies (you get plenty of carbs and fiber there..), and then the body can handle the fats; but even on Atkins you're not supposed to overdo fats.
I tried induction once, and it was a treat, but the maintenance level of Atkins matched my lifelong natural way of eating, my life preference so to speak. On maintenance you can even have some starches and more fruits.
I agree on the eat fewer calories, definitely. But on the low-carb diets (Atkins included) the food fills you up faster and you end up eating fewer calories but not even noticing it. Exercise is always great for ya.
