I sent Dr. Arpad Puszta's replies to F.
Dr. D'Adamo did not appear at the hearing.
F. sent Dr. Arpad Pusztai's letter to Dr. D'Adamo asking for comments on what Dr. Pusztai had said about the Blood Type Diet, but never received a reply from Dr. D'Adamo about Dr. Pusztai's comments.
Julie Briere decided not to embark in the defense of the Blood Type Diet or in Dr. D'Adamo's Scientific Proof. She felt that she did not have the background for this kind of defense - especially since she did not have Dr. D'Adamo or an expert there as a witness... She decided instead to concentrate on herself and her competency, and to explain that she was serious about her job and that she had positive clinical results which would prove her competancey.
On April 4, 2001, the lawyers met outside of court and came up with an agreement. Julie Briere agreed on the fault about using a diet that was not supported by most science and Journal science (like The Lancet...)
However, in a surprise twist, when the Dietetics’ order discipline committee heard about the out of court agreement, they decided to persist in their prosecution and sanctioned to have J declared guilty of using the Blood Type Diet .
After the Order of Dieticians action, Julie was given a fine of $600, one publication in the newspaper for the culpability verdict, and a one month penalty (a one month suspension) from the Quebec Order of Dieticians. However she was not a current member, and at that point decided for herself not to continue her membership with the Quebec Order of Dieticians.
